About Bond Japan

Bond Japan (NPO法人ボンドジャパン) is a Tokyo non-profit that connects international schools and nurseries in Japan and supports international childcare teachers.

Bond Japan (NPO法人ボンドジャパン) is a non-profit organization in Tokyo. We work for children, families and the people who care for them — so that working parents can rely on good childcare, and so that children grow up in communities that support them.

What we do

CIS — Community of International Schools

CIS brings together international schools and nurseries that include English education. Instead of judging one another’s style, member schools share information and materials, visit each other, and work together to raise the quality of care and education for children.

Support for international childcare teachers

More and more teachers from overseas work in Japanese nurseries and international schools. We publish plain-English guides to Japan’s Childcare Guidelines and are creating Hoikuen Japanese, a phrasebook of the Japanese used on the nursery floor.

Who writes the articles

The English series is written by Ryuki Kataoka, a childcare practitioner with over 10 years of experience in Japanese nurseries. The articles explain the Guidelines from the point of view of daily practice, not as an official or academic interpretation.
